GROWTH PLAN RECOMMENDATION FROM THE COORDINATING COMMITTEE Approved by the County Commission on December 21, 2009
Bradley County adopted a 20 Year Growth Plan in 2000 under the requirements under Public Chapter 1101. The City of Cleveland recently requested that the County Mayor reconvene the Coordinating Committee to consider amendments to the city's urban growth boundary. Maps of the proposed amendments are below.
Public Chapter 1101- Tennessee's Growth Management Law
PC1101 provides that counties and their associated municipalities are to develop countywide growth plans. These plans are to be developed and recommended by coordinating committees and submitted to the county commissions and the governing bodies of the municipalities within the county. Counties and municipalities may either reject or ratify those plans. Ratified plans are submitted to the Local Government Planning Advisory Committee (LGPAC) for approval. The plans are to establish Urban Growth Boundaries (UGBs) for municipalities. They may also establish Planned Growth Areas (PGAs) and Rural Areas (RAs) for counties. County and municipal governments may declare an impasse and have plan conflicts resolved by the Secretary of the State's Office.
Proposed City of Cleveland Growth Boundary Amendments
Property owners can request that their properties be included in the "rural area".
