OUR COUNTY
D. Gary Davis
County Mayor
I am proud that Bradley County currently offers a wide range of programs for young people in our
community. We have been fortunate to receive numerous grants to fund these
important programs. The opening of the
new Juvenile Justice Complex on Johnson Boulevard last year brought these programs together under one
roof allowing us to better serve our community.
It is important to note that
some of these program’s goals are to prevent young people from getting involved
in the juvenile justice system, as well as trying to prevent repeat offenders.
In 2005, The Bradley County
Juvenile Court developed and implemented The Bradley County Juvenile Training
Center Program and an Educational Training Center at the new Juvenile Justice Complex.
The training sessions began in January 2006 with topics focusing on juvenile
issues such as: Substance Use/Abuse,
Anger Management, Leisure Skill Development, Crisis Management, and Gender
Specific Training.
The Training Center has been very beneficial by giving the Juvenile Court the opportunity
to provide in-service training and education to correctional staff, Juvenile
Court staff, and to youth-serving organizations within our community.
The next educational session
is scheduled for September 27, 2006, and will be on Anger Management presented by the
Behavioral Research Institute. These
workshops are open to the community.
Bradley County Juvenile
Court just released the 2007 training schedule titled, “The Wellness Series.” The sessions will be held each month on the
last Wednesday of the month from 9:30 am to noon. There is a
$20.00 fee for each session.
Topics for 2007 include: Coping
with Stress through Exercise, Pet Therapy, Adolescent Obesity/Diabetes, A Guide for Good Mental Health, Survival Kit for the Summer
Months, Healthy Eating/Nutrition, STD/HIV Education & Awareness, Preventing Professional Burnout, Drugs
and Recovery and Coping with Depression.
All educational sessions
will be held in the Juvenile Detention Center’s Training Center located at 1620 Johnson Blvd S.E. Cleveland, Tennessee 37311. The phone number to call to learn
